When you are driving across a bridge, you have Point A and Point B.
We know about Point A. That’s our starting point.
We know about Point B. Maybe that’s our end point.
What we tend to overlook is the AND.
AND is where the magic happens.
I remember watching Star Trek as a kid and thinking, How cool is that?? You want to go
somewhere? All you need to do is walk into a special room, look over and say, “Beam me
up, Scotty.”
BAM.
You are transported to a new place.
There is still a Point A. There is still a Point B.
And there is still an AND.
The AND just looks a little different.
I mean, we could have named ourselves Transporter Interpreting Partners, but that
doesn’t flow quite as well.
What Happens Between Two Points
The AND is the space between Point A and Point B.
That is where communication happens.
That is where interpreters live.
That is where we do our magic.
The Space Between
The space between is where two cultures and two languages meet. It is where we take
what is happening at Point A and help carry it to Point B in a way that makes sense, feels
natural, and allows everyone to participate. Vice Versa. Sometimes that happens so fast
that we don’t even have a moment to really see the magic happening.
And that space matters.
Because communication isn’t just about getting from Point A to Point B.
Why Communication and The Space Between Matter
It’s about what happens along the way.
If you look at our logo, you’ll see that in the middle of the bridge pole, there are two
different shades of blue that meet.
That is the space between.
That little space where two things come together.
Two languages.
Two cultures.
Two people.
Two perspectives.
That is BIP.
We are the AND.
